Don’t worry about what you will lift and will that be competitive. The only competition you should worry about is staring back at you in the mirror. Does this mean that winning is not important? Not at all – but when you first start out, you need to define what winning really means.
How many folks lift heavy in the gym but never step on a platform and still brag about how much they squat (even if it is only a half squat)? Your first win comes from stepping on the platform and competing.
Before your first meet make sure you read the rules so you know what is expected of you on the platform and what a good lift looks like. You can be the strongest person in the room but if you cannot complete the lifts according to the rules, you will not be successful.
